James Phillip Smith (JPS) Project

The JPS Project guides students in unearthing essential lessons from the military experiences of James Phillip Smith. They'll gain knowledge that will empower them to envision possibilities for their growth and future goals.

Social Economics (Financial Literacy: Money Making Money)

This program teaches students easy-to-grasp concepts to help them handle money successfully. Some basics we cover include how to pay yourself, building credit, and an introduction to stock investment.

Literacy: Reading Your Way and Creating Your STory

Through this program, Advocates 4 History helps children become expert readers. We provide a platform that aligns with surrounding jurisdiction’s curriculum guidelines, and we elicit volunteers to work with our youth in strengthening their proficiency, fluency and comprehension in language arts. Students will learn reading fundamentals, and will be encouraged to find joy in absorbing both fiction and historical stories. This program also teaches script writing, how to develop podcasts and video blogs, and an approach to documenting their own stories and thoughts on past and current events that have shaped their world and culture.

Warren Baker Unity Day

Warren Baker taught us that we must learn from our past to avoid repeating it. In line with that, Unity Day is when we bring current students together with former students, teachers, and faculty to educate the school and community about its’ legacy while giving back to the community as one unit. This event pays honor to the unsung trailblazers within our community and gives them a chance to tell their stories for the benefit of our youth - empowering and inspiring them to make better choices. “Our past is a bridge to our woke future.”

One Room School House

This program was designed to empower children with a strong foundation in self-reliance and self-sacrifice while researching the historical origin of the One Room Schoolhouse. Students will be able to explain and demonstrate the effect civics and politics had on the typical day of a multi-grade class held in a 1900 one-room schoolhouse. When writing, students will use new vocabulary and its meanings and participate in special activities to improve reading and math scores.
